Poor Mobile Phone Feeds

I have often wondered why so many of the mobile phone feeds that are available do not have a 'monthly tariff cost' field? Surely any potential purchaser needs this information to spot a good deal from a bad one.

I guess that's why all mobile phone suppliers include the monthly tariff cost in their description of each offering on their own websites. So why dont these same suppliers also put this information into their product feeds?

Would you be interested enough to click through on these deals, for example?

Motorolla Pebl - FREE handset, Orange Network, 1200 anytime, any network minutes, 18 months contract

Motorolla V3 Pink, FREE handset, Vodafone Anytime 500, 12 months contract, first 2 months subscription FREE

I would guess that the answer is probably no.

Given how many mobile phone feeds miss the tariff cost out I am guessing there must be a good reason for it. Anyone know what is is?

I guess awin and afuture feeds are a set format but with a little imagination the RRP could be used as monthly line rental promoTXT, short_description for the network and tariff name and we could promote them a lot better.

This would save me hours of work. This way I wouldn't have to work out :
-(a) Line Rental Per Annum
-(b) Cashback or
- x months free

-(c) (a-b)/12 (or 18 for 18 month contract).

Doesn't sound alot but when you've got to calculate loads of tariffs it gets pretty tedious.

its not rocket science ladies just make a list :eek: or maybe learn a bit more if it was made too easy then it would be even more swammped with newbs which we can all do with out

Hi, we might have what your looking for if your interested.

The mobile merchants datafeeds on Webgains have a separate field for tariff rate (price) and handset price (display_price).

With the extended datafeed option you can get all the extra fields to give you more control over what to display. Of course, if you need something specific, the merchants I deal with are happy to provide what you need and add it to the datafeed.

Cool New Mobile's feed (which only has one phone in it today btw) doesn't have the tariff price field. I just checked, and Mobile Rainbow's doesn't either.

For everyone but itchy (who likes making lists apparently) it would be much appreciated if you could get this field added.

Let's put it another way.

If there are 20 quality retailers that each offer 100 different tariffs (of which there are 5 sms option boltons), that's

20x100x5=too many to bother with

Sorry about Coolnewmobiles, its now updated with 74 products and the tariff field... however, it should be 1,236 products so I'll look into making all products available tomorrow.

I'll ask Mobile Rainbow tomorrow if they can provide a tarriff field.

FYI - The mobile Rainbow datafeed has now been updated with the new monthly tariff field.

Let me know if you would like to see more data added to the feed. Perhaps the accessories would be a useful addition also?
