  Recurring Monthly Billing Options

Hi All

Anyone recommend a good payment gateway service (like Securehosting.com), that can also integrate monthly recurring billings and memberships?

Not keen on Worldpay and defo not Paypal or NoChex!

Have used Securehosting in the past and are very very good, but they dont do recurring automated billings etc so cant use them for a new project.

Or how easy is it to, get a secure server / space with our current host (Mistral) and create our own payment gateway and create the database software ourselves? Anyone had any experience with this?

Thanks in advance for any help

Cheers

Jon

I just use a credit card machine and make my own recurring order scripts, works just fine, sure the banks will give you the bull**** that you need an online merchant account but that is only because they are trying to re-establish a margin in the same product.

Just don't tell the bank and tell them it is for mail order, thats what i do, works fine.

Problem is with some of these online merchant processing systems is they have higher charges, which compared to rates like 1.7% which i was on with my shop terminal is just not worth justifying the difference for the sake of a bit of manual work. If you are a right smart ass you can link up your shop terminal with your pc transactional system too anyway so it should not be rocket science to connect sales from the online store to the pdq machine.

The other thing is the rejection rates of some of them as well, they reject cards if addresses dont match up and things, but the reason why addresses dont match is because visa database etc that they run from are not up to date, same goes with newly issued card numbers too.

Not that it can ever compensate for making everything smooth and automatic but its nice to know there are still some benefits left in a bit of manual labour, even in this high tech world

I have experience of both WorldPay and Protx. I would say WorldPay's interfaces are slicker and slightly easier to setup, but ProTx isn't far behind and is usually cheaper charge-wise. Bear in mind with ProTx you have to open a merchant ac with the bank and the bank will levy its own transaction charges too.

I believe ProTx has payment subscription functionality, but unlike WorldPay, it can only ever be for a fixed monthly amount, it won't do variable monthly amts.

Hi Guys

Thanks for the update on all and recommendations. Have been in contact with Protx and onto Velocity as we speak, so hopefully something we can sort soon!!

Its amazing how ranging fees are from each gateway to the next - it does seem if you are a volume merchant you can really make a tasty saving across the year by shopping around

Does anyone do a comparison site with all charges for payment gateway providers yet? If not, then im sure one of you pros could knock something up quickly!!
