  Access to merchant's feeds

Hello everyone, merchants especially,

I have a site that is a pay to join site. Sites that run affiliate schemes can be listed free of charge. It works from product feeds. The feeds that the networks provide always lack the one field I need: sale/offer price.

There is sometimes one or two feeds from each network that contains the field but generally speakign it's seriously missing!

I was wondering if there are any Merchants that have generic feeds containing an offer/sale field that I can use and they would post the URL here or PM it. Alternatively are there any merchants that are prepared to build feeds specifically for my site (I wont list it to avoid being told off but it is in my profile I believe...)

Also, I have prepared many feeds for networks for my own clients and they quite often request an "offer price" field but never seems to be passed on to the affiliate - who knows!

Anyway hope there are some people who can help out - thanks in advance!

  Re: Access to merchant's feeds

you will probably find one of the reasons merchants/networks dont use prices in feeds is because they can easily become redundant in a quickly changing marketplace. Inherently datafeeds are static one off exports of the merchants data which may change frequently...

If a customer was to see a price on your site for £5 and then clickthrough to the merchant's site and see £10 that wouldnt look too good would it?

The way around this is to take advantage of any merchants webservices or API's. You can then offer live prices and other live facilities, usually via XML , to your users.

  Re: Access to merchant's feeds

What we do is that if a item is on sale then with our product feed we have the price where it would normal be but there is also a RRP price column (obviously if the item is not on sale then the RRP data is empty for that item)

You can see this in action if you join affiliate window and download our feed, download the raw feed that we provide AW at http://www.justhom.com/feeds/justhom-aw.txt.

Our feed gets updated every 24 hours and you can see a site that one of affiliates has done which exclusivley uses our product and rss feeds by going to http://www.hom-underwear.co.uk
