Changing how data is set out in Excel

I have a spreadsheet that I need to get displaying the details in a different way.

Currently the format is like below with each "make" having many different "models"

Make | model1 | model2 | model3 | model4 | model5 | model6

How I actually need it to be is like this
make | model1
make | model2
make | model3

Now if it was just a few fields I would do it manually, but it is a few thousand so it doesn't work out really possible, is there any simple way to change this or have I got a big job on my hands?

Cheers
Wardy

Can you import it into a database and re-select out the data in the format you require?

I think you can do this using a pivot table. However pivot tables give me a headache so I can't tell you how.

Either investigate the help topics or try to find someone who's a wiz with excel.

Actually, there might be a simpler way.

I think what you're essentially trying to do is convert a row of data into a column?

So what you do is select the row, copy all the data, then right click in the first cell of the new column you want, choose 'paste special' and tick the 'transpose' box.

Might be easier to open a new spreadsheet to transpose the data into.
