  Arrow .htaccess problem

I have a small .htaccess problem I can't get my head round, I want to redirect from

/somestuff-somemorestuff.html to /somemorestuff.html

somestuff- is the same on every url but somemorestuff is a variable can anyone help?

redirect 302 /somestuff-$1.html http://www.mysite.com/([^/]+)\.html$

thanks for trying but that didn't work

nor did my attempt (one of many) I'm sure to be missing something glaringly obvious

redirect 302 /somestuff-(.*)$ http://www.mysite.co.uk/$1
