  Question Cookies and Cashback

Hi
Does anybody know if there is a danger of paying duplicate amounts of commission on a sale if you are with more than one cashback site due to the 30 day cookies we have implemented. I know people shop around to get the best offer available and in theory could visit numerous amounts of CB sites each time generating a cookie.
How do we know where the sale actually came from? and is there a way of preventing the occurrence of paying duplicate amounts of commission?

  Re: Cookies and Cashback

Firstly I am presuming you are a merchant?

Hi yeah you use local tracking to determine what network the last referrer came from.

IE if you are on Network1 and Network2

When a user presses on a Network1 link you set a local cookie saying only to call the callback code from Network1 same with Network2.

You can do this by adding an extra parameter on your links eg ?network=1 or ?network=2

I presume that the networks you are with would help you out with the technology and adding the extra parameter to your forwarded urls.

Thats no problems. I am sure your network(s) will be able to help you out, its very simple in theory - just hard to explain!

Just to let you know it is possible and it will mean no more trawling through stats and looking at timestamps to find the last referrer.
