Biography

I have been a Graphic Designer now for 5 years after receiving my Bachelor of Arts – Graphic Design Degree in 1999 following 4 years of study at La Trobe University.
Since graduating I have worked for The Buchan Group The largest Architectural Practice in Australiasia with 500 employees, as part of the small in house design team that conceptualized and produced graphics, branding and point of sale for retail stores and large department franchises. We also designed environmental sculptural elements and signage for large shopping complexes like Watergardens in Melbourne, and also produced a lot of work for Nuance Brand Duty Free stores internationally. As part of the architectural side of The Buchan Group I also completed Director and Flash presentations for company proposals and photo montage’s of new architectural elements into pre existing images for the clients viewing. This process involved advanced knowledge of Photoshop Illustrator Director and Flash.
In 2003 I started Thred clothing, a men’s boutique streetwear label, and supplied to stores all over the southern and east coast of Australia and also New Zealand. The brand was well accepted and has had many editorials showcased in fashion magazines like Fashion Journal and Beat magazine.
During the process of starting the label I have learned many different facets of the fashion Industry with overseas travel to China for manufacturing and sample buying, as well as the cut throat road of production in Australia. I have cut from patterns; chosen fabric for colour and texture, enzyme washed and sand blasted denim and know all the key players within Melbourne to get the job done. After all this I completed the graphics for Thred and also a female streetwear label called Olive. Olive is still in production with Thred missing 2 seasons to focus on an influx of Graphics work.
During this period I also started Thred Industries, a Graphic Design Studio in which I provide cutting edge design with the latest technologies to give the client a choice of something different.
In addition to this work I have had many life experiences that have made me a stronger person. These include 5 years in the army reserves with a 10 month full time contract for the UN as a peacekeeper in the FLS SQD East Timor during the atrocities of Indonesian invasion in 2000. After this I completed a whirlwind 6 month non stop tour of Europe visiting 12 countries and learning invaluable cultural events and behaviors. I have always loved the outdoors having surfed, skied snowboarded and been around mountain bikes since I was 12 and this has kept me physically and mentally strong.
My experiences and passions of these sports in shown in my design as I find it a thrill to design edgy dynamic graphics that best suit the ethos of outdoor extreme sports.
