Hi there I have just joined the site and hope there are a few of you out there that can give me an independent view on merchants and affiliates. Let me explain; I decided that i had to move into the 21st century, i suppose you could say i was a bit ancient(dinersour) in my thought process, anyway what happened was i decided that if I contact an on line marketing company, explain i want to increase sales on my website and that we get a 4% sale to unique visit, they will be able to help. GUESS WHAT? they suggested their very successful e-mailing programe to members who have signed up for information to do with travel and leisure. They guaranteed that for £5000 they would generate 29,000 unique visits to my site, well this equated to profits of £32,480. Christmas was coming early, great return on investment.
I asked them to send me a couple of e-mail samples and they were to members of a site that collects points for its members, when they click on they get points to convert to prizes. GUESS WHAT? the marketing company owned the points promotional company. WhY am I telling you this? I think it is sad that dinersours like me who get excited when they learn about new marketing ideas through this wonderful internet technology become suspicious of everything they then find out about. I am now looking at setting up an affiliate programe, no nothing about it, scarred of getting ripped of, and hope that I can get a responce from helpful people on this site. I am also considering if I should recruit a younger thinking techno marketing person to be responsible to run and manage this. WHAT DO YOU THINK?
